Bennington College has been selected by Architectural Digest top 10 US colleges with Best Architecture. During Parent's Weekend 2011 - we also wanted to see the new CAPA (stands for Center for the Advancement of Public Action). Funny, you kind of want to see where the $$$s go....
CAPA was complete and with exterior built using reclaimed marble looked very modern compared to some old buildings at campus. I don't think we exactly know what happens in CAPA but it looked wonderful. None of the designs in Bennington are extravagant in any way - but more showing very simplistic bare design. I think it's a Vermont way.
Jan-Erik gave us the tour - he works in office as part of work-study and he had a chance to practise giving the tour with us. CAPA's exterior is all reclaimed white marble - we will see how well that survives VT winter !
Evening ended at Kevin's Pub (http://www.kevinssportspubandrestaurant.com/). Mom wanted to go to Pangea's (I do like white tableclothes) - but Jan-Erik was correct and hamburgers at Kevin's were great (0.5 lb hamburgers !). After dinner we were ready to call it for night (Mom and Dad I mean). Plans were made to meet Jan-Erik for breakfast.
